How long does Omise hold my money?
Last updated on June 04, 2021The contents in this article may contain information specific to Japan
Payments collected from your customers are kept “on hold” in your Omise account for a set period before it is available for transfer to a connected bank account. These are reflected under the “on hold” and “transferable balance” on your dashboard.
Omise Japan merchants have got 2 options for holding period; the standard holding period and the flexible holding period.
Standard holding period
This is the default holding period set for your account.
Visa, Mastercard and alternative payment methods
The balance in your account is transferable after 21 days of the transaction date. When the status of the balance in your account changes to transferable balance
, you can transfer it to a connected bank account.
JCB, American Express and Diners
The balance will automatically be transferred to your bank account twice a month, 8 business days after the closing date. The closing date is on the 15th and the last day of every month.
Flexible holding period
Omise Japan merchants have the option of choosing a holding period that is most suitable for their business needs. The options are 1 day, 3 days, 5 days, 7 days and 14 days holding period. This applies to payment acceptance through Visa and Mastercard, and alternative payment methods (Internet banking, Pay-easy and Convenience store payments). Card payments through JCB, American Express and Diners follow the same transfer cycle as the standard holding period.
Please note that shorter holding periods have different pricing from the standard option. To choose a different holding period, please contact support@omise.co
